To me, Wanderlust Yoga and Music Festival was a tangible way of recognizing and celebrating the unification of different communities. Alongside mirroring current trends, the concept behind the festival spoke to me personally through its graceful blending of multiple art forms. As an expanding artist, I have begun to make this connection within my own life and have thus woven into various communities, most of which were a part of this festival. There were yogis, acro-yogis, hoopers, visual artists, costume designers, musicians, "slackers", performers, and more!

Wanderlust allowed different worlds or should I say world views to collide. There was an amusing mixture of ravers, burners and yogis that made my thoughts giggle. This amalgamation presented different age groups , socio economic statuses, and what I found most interesting, awareness levels. Yet beyond these dissimilarities was a common ground...Music, Movement, and Art. Which luckily for me, I brought just that through my fellow nomads and performance family, Danyavaad and The Shimmy Sisters.

Danyavvaad is an eclectic gypsy fusion band accompanied by stunning theatrical Belly Dancers, The Shimmy Sisters, a professional company founded by my sister and I. As a group we perform anywhere from corporate and private parties to Burning Man and similar festivals. Yet despite the prestige or chaos of our environment our spiritual and artistic philosophies remain the same. One of which is to be all inclusive while creating a complete experience. We connect and inspire audiences of all types to share in the spreading of art, movement and the enjoyment of just feeling good. The nice thing about performance art is that the viewer does not actually have to try to feel these things, it just comes with the show.

Yoga also provides many of these benefits that are not merely attainable by stretching on a mat. As I have come to find and The festival also brought forth is that yoga can be a practice activated in many ways including various forms of movement, expressions, and even thoughts. More and more, I feel this is being recognized as the gaps between people and different arts merge and even overlap. Wanderlust was a prime example of this underlying current, and served to advance the speed of this evolution. An evolution that seems to be harmonious with the direction of my life and my personal company Art By Adelaide.
